Haw Par Villa entrance

Designed by the late architect, Mr Ho Kong Yew, this entrance of traditional Chinese style bears the inscription 'Tiger Balm Garden', the original name of Haw Par Villa. The garden was founded by Aw Boon Haw, a prominent businessman and philanthropist, who had set it up in 1937 with the intention of educating the public about Chinese culture. This can be seen in the wide range of statues and sculptures on display at Haw Par Villa that portray themes from Chinese legend and folklore.
