Born in 1965 in Malaysia, Anurendra Jegadeva received his art education at Oxford Polytechnic, London and earned a Master of Fine Arts from Monash University, Australia in 2002. A self-confessed armchair commentator and coffee shop activist, he has worked in different capacities as a journalist and curator in Malaysia and Australia. Utilizing narratives from his environment, including myths and religion, Anurendra creates works in both two- and three-dimensional forms. This book is one of two created by Anurendra for the exhibition Conditional Love: Painted Stories. Like a ‘visual anecdote’, the book presents archival material taken from various points of his life – such as tram tickets from his time living in Melbourne – and more importantly, his thought processes behind the exhibition.
