Born in 1936, Thomas Yeo graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. He then studied in Chelsea School of Art and Hammersmith College of Art and Architecture in London. Since then, Yeo has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions and in 1984, he was awarded the Cultural Medallion. Different tones of purple made up Purple Landscape. Strokes of dark brown painted what looks like a tree frames the work. Bits of greenery on the ground lead the viewers into the landscape as its tone changes from warm to cool. In the upper half of the painting, bands of green, yellow and black suggest the presence of a hill in the background.
