This blue and white porcelain bowl has a bird motif painted on it. Porcelain bowls like this were placed on every table at chicken rice stalls. The bowls contained the chilli dip which accompanied the chicken rice dish. The chilli dip, usually made from pounded chilli, garlic, grated ginger and chicken fat, is unique to the Southeast Asian version of chicken rice.
