Gold and enamel dome table clock in cloisonné enamel by Patek Philippe

Inspired by the museum’s William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings, this piece was specially created by the Swiss watch and clock manufacturer Patek Philippe to celebrate SG50, Singapore’s 50th year of independence in 2015. Farquhar served as the first Resident and Commandant of Singapore (1819-1924) and during his term as Resident and Commandant of Melaka before that (1803-1818), he commissioned local artists to capture the flora and fauna of the Malay Peninsula in a collection of 477 watercolour drawings.
