A panoramic view with Victoria Memorial Hall in the distance

Built in 1862, Victoria Memorial Hall, or Town Hall - as it was previously known - did not include the Memorial Hall originally. The initial blueprint gave the Town Hall a dual function, serving as a theatre on the ground floor while providing office space on the second level. The Memorial Hall had been erected only much later to commemorate the memory of Queen Victoria after she passed away in January 1901. In 1979, Victoria Memorial Hall was renamed Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, which still stands today.
